Itinerary

Evening: Sleeper train to Sapa
At 10:00 PM, board the comfortable Dream Train Express from Hanoi to Sapa. You’ll travel overnight in a shared 4-berth cabin with air-conditioning, cozy bedding, and storage space under the berth. The cabins are styled with Sapa-inspired decor for a bit of local charm as you head into the mountains.

Optional transfers: Prefer not to take the train? You can swap for a VIP sleeper bus, a daytime limousine bus with an extra night in Sapa, or a private transfer from other locations — just let us know your preference.

Arrive early at Lao Cai train station, where a minivan will take you up the mountains to Sapa town. You’ll have access to a shower and luggage storage before sitting down for breakfast to start your day refreshed.

Breakfast

Hop in a jeep, bus, or motorbike and follow one of Sapa’s most scenic roads toward the mountains. Your first stop is Silver Waterfall — a tall, dramatic cascade that’s especially beautiful during the rainy season. Stretch your legs, take some photos, and enjoy the cool mountain air.

Next, continue uphill to Tram Ton Pass — the highest mountain pass in Vietnam. The view here opens up to a stunning panorama of green valleys and winding roads. On clear days, you can see all the way to Binh Lu and Lai Chau. Take your time soaking it all in before heading back to town.

Lunch

You’ll have the afternoon free to explore Sapa at your own pace. Walk through the local market, visit a nearby village like Cat Cat, ride the cable car up to Fansipan (the highest peak in Indochina), or hike up to the Ham Rong Mountain viewpoint. The rest of the day is yours to relax or explore.

Settle into your hotel in Sapa for a relaxing night. Accommodation is clean, comfortable, and conveniently located — a welcome break after your first full day in the mountains.

After breakfast, you’ll set off on a scenic trek through the famous terraced rice fields of Sapa. You’ll visit ethnic minority villages, learn about local customs, and take in the dramatic mountain landscapes. There are three trekking routes to choose from, depending on your interest and fitness level:

Option 1: Classic Muong Hoa Valley (easy–medium)
Follow a popular trail through Y Linh Ho, Lao Chai, and Ta Van villages. This route winds through the beautiful Muong Hoa Valley, home to Black H’mong and Zay communities. The paths here are a mix of back roads and small trails alongside rice fields and streams.

Option 2: Family-friendly valley walk (easy–medium)
Take a quieter route from Giang Ta Chai to Ban Ho, with the chance to meet members of the Tay ethnic group. This option includes some paved roads and is a good fit for families or those who prefer a less challenging walk with just as much scenery.

Option 3: Off the beaten path (medium–difficult)
For a more remote experience, trek from Su Phan to Ban Ho and Thanh Phu — two Tay villages less visited by travelers. This option takes you deeper into the valley on narrower paths through terraced fields and more rugged landscapes.

Breakfast, Lunch

After your trek, return to Sapa for some rest and dinner. In the evening, you’ll be driven to Lao Cai station to catch the overnight train back to Hanoi.

Alternative return options: You can also return by VIP sleeper bus, limousine day bus (with extra night in Sapa), or private car. Just ask when booking.

  • The tour includes light to moderate trekking. Most travelers in average health can join without issues. If you’re unsure, we can help you choose a route that fits your comfort level.
  • This tour runs year-round, but September to November offer the best weather — cooler air, clear skies, and golden rice fields during harvest.
  • No trekking experience is needed. Local guides adjust the pace to your ability, and routes are suitable for both beginners and casual hikers.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes with good grip. Dress in layers — mornings and evenings can be chilly, while midday sun is stronger. A waterproof jacket is handy during the rainy season.
  • All trekking routes are led by experienced local guides who know the area well. If needed, easier paths or vehicle support can be arranged. Your safety and comfort are always a priority.
  • Most hotels in Sapa offer free wifi. Signal can be weak in remote areas during the trek. For reliable access, consider using a local SIM card with data.
  • You can store large luggage in Sapa while trekking. Bring only a small daypack with essentials for the hike — we’ll help arrange everything.
  • Vegetarian, vegan, and allergy-friendly meals can be arranged. Let us know your dietary needs in advance so we can accommodate you.
  • The tour runs in all weather. Rain adds a bit of adventure to the trek — just bring a raincoat and appropriate footwear. Some viewpoints may be foggy in winter.
  • Pack sunscreen, insect repellent, a refillable water bottle, and a hat. A light backpack and camera are also useful for the day hike.
  • This tour is available all year and can start on any day. Contact us early if you want to travel during public holidays or harvest season, as availability fills up fast.
