Ha Giang by Car or Jeep – The Big Loop in 4 days

Your journey begins in Ha Giang City, where your driver and guide meet you for the start of an unforgettable road trip by car or jeep through Vietnam’s northern frontier.

Climbing high into the mountains, your first scenic stop is Heaven’s Gate, offering sweeping views of the vast limestone landscape ahead. As you descend, you’ll pause at the viewpoint overlooking the Twin Mountains of Quan Ba, two almost perfectly rounded hills nestled in a lush valley.

After lunch at a local restaurant, the drive continues deeper into the mountains. You’ll travel over the dramatic curves of Tham Ma Pass and Chin Khoanh Pass, through flower-filled villages in the Sung La Valley, and past terraced fields dotted with traditional stilt houses.

In Xa Phin village, explore the Hmong King’s Palace, a wooden fortress once home to the powerful Vuong family. The day ends in Dong Van, where you’ll check into a local hotel or homestay and have time to explore the small Old Quarter in the evening.

If today is a Sunday, you’ll wake up to the sounds and colors of the Dong Van Market, where ethnic groups from surrounding mountains gather to trade, socialize, and show off their traditional clothing.

After breakfast, drive toward Lung Cu, the northernmost point of Vietnam. A short climb takes you to the flag tower, where you’ll enjoy 360-degree views stretching into China and across the Vietnamese highlands.

Next, head south via one of the most iconic roads in Vietnam—Ma Pi Leng Pass. Whether you're in a comfortable SUV or riding in an open jeep, the winding route along towering cliffs and deep valleys is sure to be a highlight. You’ll have plenty of chances to stop for photos and walk a short stretch of the Sky Path, which hugs the cliffside and offers unforgettable views of the Nho Que River below.

You’ll arrive in Meo Vac by late afternoon, with time to relax and soak in the mountain surroundings.

On Sunday mornings, Meo Vac Market brings in an even wider variety of ethnic groups than Dong Van. If your timing is right, don’t miss this authentic cultural experience—one of the largest minority markets in the province.

After breakfast, continue your journey through the mountains toward Du Gia, a remote village known for its lush valleys and rice terraces. Even after two days of dramatic views, this route still surprises with quiet stretches, small villages, and new angles of Ha Giang’s rugged beauty.

Arriving around early afternoon, you’ll check in with a local family before setting off on a 2–3 hour village hike. This walk brings you to panoramic viewpoints and gives insight into rural life in northern Vietnam. If the weather allows, take a refreshing dip in the Du Gia waterfall, a favorite hidden gem surrounded by green hills.

Spend the night in Du Gia, where the stars are bright and the air feels a world away from the cities.

Start the final day with a relaxed morning and one last opportunity to visit a local waterfall for a swim, so don’t forget your swimsuit. The drive continues to Lung Tam, a traditional Hmong village where local women weave beautiful textiles by hand. You’ll see how they create bags, scarves, and accessories—perfect keepsakes if you’re looking for a meaningful souvenir.

Heading back toward Ha Giang, you’ll pass through Quan Ba, with a final view of the Nui Doi (Fairy Mountains). Then it’s over the Sky Gate and down through Bac Sum Pass, the last stretch before reaching Ha Giang City.

After freshening up at our hostel, you’ll board our Comfort Limousine Van back to Hanoi.
