Itinerary
Travel from Hanoi (or Ha Giang) by bus to the Tan Quang area, where your private driver will be waiting. From here, it’s a scenic ride up to the quiet mountain community of Thong Nguyen.
Enjoy a warm, home-cooked dinner with your hosts and other travelers. It’s a chance to get a first taste of local food and culture in this peaceful mountain setting.
Ta Quyen Homestay
It is a charming stilt house in the peaceful hills of Thong Nguyen, Hoang Su Phi. It offers clean, no-frills rooms with private bathrooms, Wi-Fi, and generous home-cooked meals featuring local specialties. Staying here gives you a chance to experience Red Dao culture up close, with friendly hosts and beautiful mountain views right outside your door.
Stop in one of the hill tribe villages for a traditional lunch prepared by your Red Dao hosts. This is a great chance to learn about daily life and local customs firsthand.

Huong Homestay
It is set in a quiet Dao village surrounded by rice terraces in Hoang Su Phi, Hà Giang. It’s a great base for trekking, with trails starting right outside and a peaceful atmosphere to return to at the end of the day.
Enjoy a final local lunch before heading back to Tan Quang, where you’ll board the afternoon bus (around 4:30 PM) for the return journey to Hanoi or your next destination.

- The total trekking distance on this tour is around 18 km, mostly spread across Day 2. The route includes hills, valleys, and terraced fields, so a moderate level of fitness is helpful.
- This tour involves moderate trekking with some uneven and hilly terrain. It’s suitable for active travelers with a basic level of fitness. If you have concerns, let us know—we can adjust the pace or route where needed.
- This tour is all year round, but the best time is September to early October during the rice harvest season when the terraces turn golden. Spring (March–May) is also lush and scenic.
- No trekking experience is needed. The tour is designed for travelers who enjoy nature and walking, and the guide will adjust the pace to suit the group.
- Most homestays have basic wifi. During the trek or in more remote areas, the signal can be weak or unavailable. For better connectivity, we recommend using a Vietnamese SIM card with mobile data.
- We can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, and allergy-specific diets. Please inform us in advance so we can prepare meals accordingly.
- Bring sunscreen, insect repellent, a reusable water bottle, and a power bank. A light jacket is useful in the evenings, especially in higher villages.
- You’ll stay in basic but comfortable family-run homestays with shared rooms. Expect clean bedding, mosquito nets, and home-style hospitality in traditional stilt houses.

The main trekking day covers about 18 km through hilly terrain and terraced rice fields. It’s a moderate-level hike, suitable for travelers in reasonably good shape. The pace is flexible, and breaks are included along the way.
ight rain is not a problem — we recommend bringing a waterproof jacket. In case of heavy or dangerous weather, the route may be adjusted for safety, or an alternative activity arranged.
If needed, the guide can adjust the pace or shorten the route slightly. In more serious cases, alternative transport may be arranged (subject to availability and local conditions).
The full trek might be too challenging for young children. Older kids (12+) who are used to walking can usually join, but we recommend discussing with us before booking to ensure it's a good fit.
