Itinerary

Lunch, Dinner

You can either take a public bus (self-arranged taxi to the bus station) or book a private transfer directly from your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City to the homestay in Can Tho. The drive takes around 4 hours, passing through the ever-changing landscapes of the Mekong Delta.

Arrive around lunchtime at a peaceful homestay right by the riverbank. Settle in and enjoy a freshly cooked local lunch while watching boats glide along the river — a quiet introduction to Delta life.

After lunch, join your local guide for a relaxed cycling trip through the surrounding area. Pedal along small village roads past rice fields, fruit orchards, and stilt houses. This is a great chance to see how people live in the countryside, away from the tourist crowds.

After your ride, unwind back at the homestay. A homemade dinner is served in the evening, featuring regional specialties prepared by your hosts. You can enjoy the calm atmosphere and get a good night’s rest before the early start tomorrow.

Breakfast, Lunch

Wake up early for a 5:30 AM boat ride to the quieter and more local Phong Dien Floating Market. You’ll see small wooden boats loaded with fresh produce and household goods, and even get to try a local breakfast right on the water.

Continue the boat ride through peaceful backwater canals lined with palms and rural homes. Stop at a fruit orchard to taste tropical fruits straight from the garden and learn about local farming traditions.

Cruise onward to Cai Rang — the largest and most well-known floating market in the Delta. Here, vendors hang their goods on tall poles, advertising everything from pineapples to noodles. It’s busy, colorful, and very photogenic.

Late morning :
Rice noodle workshop

After the markets, visit a local workshop where rice noodles are made by hand. See each step of the process and get a glimpse into one of the region’s traditional crafts.

The boat gently makes its way back to your homestay. Relax, enjoy the river views, and tuck into a well-earned lunch.

After lunch, you’ll travel back to Ho Chi Minh City — either by bus or private car depending on what you booked. Expect to arrive in the late afternoon or early evening, with plenty of great stories and photos from your time in the Mekong Delta.

FAQ

How early does the boat tour start, and is it worth waking up for?

The boat departs around 5:30 AM to catch the floating markets at their most active. It’s an early start, but totally worth it — this is when the markets are busiest, with boats selling fresh produce, breakfast foods, and more.

Not at all. The cycling route is flat and easy, suitable for beginners. It’s more about exploring the local area at a slow pace than doing serious exercise.

What if I don’t want to cycle?

Let us know in advance — we can often offer a walking alternative or arrange a tuk-tuk or scooter ride depending on local availability.

Is there hot water and a private bathroom at the homestay?

Most homestay rooms include hot water and a private bathroom. We’ll let you know in advance if any variations apply to your booking.

Do I need to bring anything for the boat trip?

Just bring your camera, a hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle. Life jackets are provided, and seating is comfortable on the boat.
