Itinerary

Lunch, Dinner

Your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Hanoi around 8:00 AM. Once you leave the city behind, the scenery quickly shifts to rural landscapes, with rice fields, rivers, and small villages lining the road.

Stop at a local restaurant in Yen Bai Province to enjoy a Vietnamese lunch and take a short break before continuing into the mountains.

The drive gets more dramatic as you enter the highlands. You'll stop at Khau Pha Pass — one of Vietnam’s most impressive mountain passes — and later at a scenic viewpoint in Che Cu Nha. These are great spots to stretch your legs and take photos of the layered valleys below.

Late Afternoon :
Arrival in Mu Cang Chai

Reach your accommodation in Mu Cang Chai by late afternoon. After checking in, you can relax and enjoy the peaceful mountain setting for the rest of the day.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast, head out for a full-day trek through some of the most iconic rice terrace landscapes in Vietnam. A short transfer takes you to the starting point in Che Cu Nha.

The 10 km trek winds through terraced hillsides, forested slopes, and traditional H’mong villages. You'll pass by La Pan Tan’s famous spiral-shaped fields — recognized as a national heritage site — and get the chance to observe daily life in these remote communities.

Take a break along the trail and enjoy a simple picnic lunch in a peaceful outdoor setting surrounded by rice fields.

Around 4:00 PM, your private driver picks you up at the end of the trail and takes you back to your accommodation. You’ll have the evening free to unwind after a rewarding day.

If the weather is clear, you can wake up early for a short trip to San Nhu village. Just 2 km from town, this spot offers sweeping views of terrace fields shaped like a horseshoe — a favorite for photographers.

After breakfast, continue exploring the area. A visit to Kim Noi village (about 8 km from town) gives you one last chance to take photos and experience rural life before leaving Mu Cang Chai.

Enjoy a final lunch at a local restaurant before beginning your journey back. You can choose to return to Hanoi or continue onward to Sapa, depending on your travel plans.

  • This tour is available year-round and can depart on any day with advance booking. We recommend booking at least a few days ahead, especially during the rice season in September.
