Central Vietnam climate
Before discussing June’s weather, it’s good to have an overview of Central Vietnam’s climate, as it differs between the coastal and highland regions. The geography of Central Vietnam results in two different climate zones:
- The Central Coast, where Hoi An, Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Hue are located, follows a tropical monsoon climate with distinct dry and rainy seasons.
- The Central Highlands, covering Dalat, Dak Lak, and Kon Tum, have a more temperate climate, with a separate rainy season that does not always align with the coast.
As a result, June brings contrasting weather conditions between the coast and the highlands.
Central Coast (Hoi An, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Hue)
June remains in the dry season, but high temperatures and humidity make the coastal region feel significantly hotter. Some short rain showers may occur, but they are not yet frequent.
- Dry Season: January – August
- Rainy Season: September – December
Central Highlands (Dalat, Dak Lak, Kon Tum)
The rainy season is well underway in the Central Highlands, with frequent showers and cooler temperatures compared to the lowlands. Rain tends to be short but intense.
- Dry Season: November – April
- Rainy Season: May – October
Important: Central coast guide for June
As previously mentioned, Central Vietnam has two separate climate regions: the Central Coast, home to popular destinations like Hoi An, Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Hue, and the Central Highlands, which includes Dalat, Dak Lak, and Kon Tum. Since these two areas have different weather patterns, this guide will focus on the Central Coast, as it is the region most travelers search for when looking up Central Vietnam’s weather.
The coastal region is the primary focus for most visitors, as weather conditions directly impact beach trips and sightseeing plans. If we were to explain both the coast and the highlands in the same guide, it would become unnecessarily complex.
If you are planning to visit the Central Highlands, we have separate weather guides that cover the region in more detail:
These resources provide specific weather insights for Dalat and other key destinations in the Central Highlands in June. Keeping this guide focused on the Central Coast ensures clarity, while still offering useful links for those exploring the highlands.
