The Meo Vac Market is one of the biggest highlights of the town and a must-see attraction along the Ha Giang Loop. Arriving late might mean missing the liveliest part, as it quiets down after 10 AM.
What to bring and wear

If you’re on your own, look for where motorbikes are parked—this is where guides often bring their guests. Meo Vac and the road to Cao Bang and the Ban Gioc Waterfall
Some travelers want to experience both Ha Giang and Cao Bang, and for good reason—these are two of the most scenic regions in all of Vietnam. Meo Vac is the most practical way to connect the two regions.
Rather than completing the full Ha Giang Loop, which would require you to return to Ha Giang City and then drive back to Meo Vac, it’s more efficient to stop in Meo Vac and continue directly into Cao Bang. This way, you avoid doubling back and still get to see all the major highlights, including Dong Van, Ma Pi Leng Pass, and the H’mong King Palace.
Once you enter Cao Bang, you’ll arrive in Bao Lac, a very remote and peaceful area far removed from the more developed roads of Ha Giang. The Me Pja Pass on the way to Ban Gioc Waterfall offers breathtaking views, making it a scenic highlight of the journey. It’s recommended to stay overnight in the Bao Lac area before continuing your journey to Ban Gioc Waterfall though, because it is still a considerable distance away.
