Itinerary

Lunch, Dinner

Between 7:00 and 7:30 AM, you'll be picked up from your hotel in Hanoi and head west by limousine toward Pu Luong Nature Reserve. It's a scenic drive through the mountains, with a comfort stop along the way.

Take a break at Thung Khe Pass for a panoramic view over Mai Chau Valley. There’s a row of rustic roadside stands here where locals sell fresh produce and snacks—try cơm lam, sticky rice cooked in bamboo, a specialty of the area.

Arrive in Pu Luong around midday, check in to your eco retreat, and enjoy a relaxed local lunch. You’ll have some free time to settle in and take in the peaceful surroundings—many lodges have pools or terraces overlooking the hills.

Homestay

In the afternoon, drive a short distance to the starting point of a light trek. Cross a hanging bridge over the Cham River and walk through Ba Village, home to traditional Thai stilt houses. Along the way, you’ll see handmade bamboo waterwheels used for irrigation—a clever piece of local engineering still in use today.

End the trek with a gentle bamboo boat ride on the Cham River. These boats are a part of daily life here, used by locals to reach fields and nearby homes. It’s a peaceful and scenic way to wind down.

Return to your lodge, enjoy dinner at the eco-restaurant, and spend the evening relaxing. Swim in the infinity pool, have a drink at the bar, or just enjoy the calm mountain air.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast, set off on a morning trek to Kho Muong Village. The trail begins near Thai stilt houses and gradually opens up to sweeping views of Pu Luong’s terraced fields. Once you reach Kho Muong, explore the peaceful village and, if conditions allow, venture into the nearby Bat Cave—hidden in the jungle and home to a large bat colony.

Late morning :
Lunch and check-out

Return to the lodge for lunch, pack up your things, and say goodbye to Pu Luong. The next leg of the journey takes you east toward Ninh Binh.

Breakfast, Lunch

Enjoy a relaxing drive through countryside landscapes. Arrive in Ninh Binh—often called “Halong Bay on land”—and check in at your homestay or lodge. You’ll have some free time to relax by the pool or terrace before dinner.

Dinner is served at your accommodation. Enjoy the slower pace and quiet of the Ninh Binh countryside before a good night’s rest.

Start your day with a bike ride through scenic countryside to reach Hoa Lu, Vietnam’s capital in the 10th century. Explore ancient temples and learn about the Dinh and Le dynasties that once ruled here.

Late morning :
Trang An boat tour

Next, take a traditional sampan boat through the UNESCO-listed landscape of Trang An. Glide between limestone cliffs, through cave tunnels, and past riverside temples. It’s a peaceful, surreal journey through one of Vietnam’s most beautiful natural areas.

After lunch, relax on the drive back to Hanoi. You’ll arrive in the city around 6:30 PM—just in time to catch the evening buzz or wind down at your hotel.

  • The tour covers a relaxed route from Hanoi through Pu Luong and Ninh Binh before returning to the capital. Exact distance isn’t a major factor, as most travel is by comfortable limousine or car, with short guided treks and boat rides in between.
  • This tour is easy to moderate. Most activities involve light trekking, walking, cycling, and boat rides. If you have concerns about the difficulty, let us know—we can customize the experience to your needs or adjust during the activity.
  • This tour is enjoyable year-round, but the best conditions are from March to May and September to November, when the weather is mild and rice fields are at their most scenic.
  • No prior experience is needed. This tour is suitable for beginners, families, and anyone who enjoys nature and light outdoor activities.
  • Comfortable walking shoes are recommended for the treks and cycling. Bring weather-appropriate clothing—light layers for sunny days and a light rain jacket during the rainy season.
  • Safety is a priority throughout the tour. Treks are guided and routes are well established. Life jackets are provided during boat trips. Please follow your guide’s instructions for a smooth experience.
  • Most accommodations offer wifi. However, signal strength may vary in remote areas like Pu Luong. A Vietnamese SIM card is recommended if you want to stay connected during the trip.
  • Most luggage can be brought along, but large suitcases are best left in Hanoi if not needed daily. We suggest bringing a small overnight bag for easier transport during the trip.
  • We can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, and allergy-specific meal requests. Please let us know your dietary needs in advance so we can arrange suitable meals throughout the tour.
  • Enjoy authentic Vietnamese meals featuring local specialties like com lam (bamboo-cooked rice), grilled meats, seasonal vegetables, and traditional soups. Meals are served at homestays and eco-lodges.

  • This tour runs in all weather. Light rain won’t affect the experience, but treks and cave visits may be adjusted for safety in case of heavy rain. A raincoat or poncho is handy during wet months.
  • Bring sunscreen, insect repellent, a reusable water bottle, and a small daypack. A hat and sunglasses are helpful for sunny days, and a rain jacket is useful year-round.
  • We arrange stays at well-rated eco-lodges and homestays like Inh La Home and Green Mountain Homestay. All accommodations are selected for comfort, location, and traveler feedback. If you have specific preferences, we’re happy to tailor your stay.
