Itinerary

Evening: Overnight train to Sapa
Board the Dream Train Express around 10:00 PM from Hanoi for a comfortable overnight journey to Sapa. You’ll sleep in a cozy, air-conditioned 4-berth cabin, styled with local Sapa decor. Bedding is provided, and there’s room to store your luggage under the berth. This night train saves you daylight and lets you wake up in the mountains.

Arrive early at Lao Cai Station (around 6:00 AM), where a minibus will take you up to Sapa. Once there, you can freshen up with a shower, store your luggage, and enjoy breakfast before starting the day.

Breakfast

Hop in your jeep and cruise through Sapa Town and the surrounding mountain roads. After a few kilometers, you’ll turn off onto a peaceful countryside road that winds through green rice terraces. Your destination is the Red Dao village of Ta Phin, set among hills and paddy fields.

Stroll through the village to get a glimpse of daily life in a Red Dao community. Don’t miss the mossy ruins of an old French colonial church — it’s a quiet but atmospheric reminder of the region’s history.

Lunch

After the village visit, drive back the same route to Sapa. The afternoon is yours to spend however you like. You might take the cable car to Fansipan, browse the local market, grab a coffee with mountain views, or just relax around town.

Spend the night at Maison de Sapa (or a similar hotel, depending on availability). This charming boutique hotel offers a cozy and stylish base for your time in the mountains, with warm hospitality and comfortable rooms.

After breakfast, head out for a scenic ride along the road to Lai Chau. Your first stop is the Silver Waterfall — a powerful cascade that’s especially striking during the rainy season. From here, continue to Tram Ton Pass, Vietnam’s highest mountain pass at 2,047 meters. The viewpoint offers sweeping views over the Hoang Lien Son range and the valley below.

Breakfast

Drive further down the scenic pass until you reach Binh Lu village, home to the Black Dao ethnic group. Explore the village, meet some of the locals, and learn a bit about their culture and traditional way of life.

Enjoy lunch in the area before heading back to Sapa. There’s some time to rest and have dinner in town before your transfer to the train station in Lao Cai.

Lunch, Dinner

Take the overnight Dream Train Express back to Hanoi, arriving early the next morning — rested and full of great memories from the mountains.
