Itinerary

You’ll be picked up from your hotel in Hanoi between 6:00 and 7:00 PM. If you’re arriving at the airport, just let us know your landing time in advance. From there, it’s a roughly 5.5-hour drive northwest to the remote mountain district of Tram Tau.

You’ll arrive in Tram Tau around 11:30 PM and check in to a simple local homestay or resort, depending on your booking request. Get some rest before the big trek begins.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Camping

Enjoy breakfast around 7:30 AM. Afterward, you’ll be driven partway to the starting point in Ban Cong commune — about 7 km from town. From there, hop on a motorbike for the final bumpy stretch of muddy road to reach the porter’s base.

Around 8:30 AM, meet your porters and prepare your gear. The trail starts with a tough, steep ascent through slippery, muddy terrain. After about 3.5 km, you’ll reach Turtle Head Rock — a dramatic stone outcrop with sweeping views.

If you're fit and up for a challenge, continue along a narrow, exposed ridgeline known as the Dinosaur Backbone — one of the most iconic features of the Ta Xua range. The final stretch takes you deeper into the jungle toward the overnight campsite.

By late afternoon, you’ll reach the rustic mountain hut where you’ll camp for the night. There’s no phone signal, no showers, and just a trickle of water to wash your hands — but your porter will prepare a warm dinner, and the peaceful jungle surroundings are all yours to enjoy.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Camping
Early morning :
Wake up in the clouds

Wake up early and have a light breakfast as the mist rolls through the jungle. Today’s trek takes you deeper into the magical forest — a high-altitude area filled with mossy trees and year-round fog.

Mid-morning :
Reach Ta Xua Peak

Around 9:00 AM, arrive at the summit of Ta Xua Peak. If the weather is clear, you’ll be rewarded with epic views of cloud seas stretching across the mountains. Stop here for a picnic lunch and some well-earned rest.

Afternoon :
Return to camp

After taking in the views, descend the same route back to the campsite. You’ll arrive by mid-afternoon with time to relax and enjoy the scenery.

If you’re lucky, catch the sunset and a sea of clouds right from the hut. Your porters will cook a wood-fired dinner, and you’ll spend the evening by the campfire learning basic camping skills, stargazing, and reconnecting with nature — far from city lights and Wi-Fi.

Breakfast, Lunch
Early morning :
Sunrise and final trek

Wake up early again to catch the sunrise, then begin the descent back toward Tram Tau. The return trek takes about 5–6 hours through the same forested terrain.

Around noon, return to Tram Tau town. Enjoy a hearty lunch at a homestay, followed by a relaxing soak in a natural hot spring to soothe your tired legs.

At around 3:00 PM, the car picks you up for the return journey to Hanoi. You’ll arrive in the city around 8:00 PM and be dropped off at your hotel — tired, muddy, and hopefully smiling.
